King County monitors minor flooding on Tolt River

CARNATION (AP) — King County officials say they are monitoring the Tolt River at Carnation for potential flooding.

Steady rainfall has brought the river up to flood alert level, but only minor flooding in low-lying areas is expected.

County staff will monitor stream gauges and weather reports, and will offer updates on river conditions as necessary. Real-time river level information is available online at kingcounty.gov/flood.

The county also offers an automated flood alert system on the county’s six major river systems. Alerts can be sent by email, text message or voicemail. People can sign up for flood alerts at the same website.
