Seven paintings by noted Seattle artist Whiting Tennis are missing after a rental truck containing the artwork was stolen last week in North Seattle, police said.

The Budget rental truck, which was stolen Thursday, was recovered yesterday in West Seattle, police said. However, the artwork was not in the truck.

The seven paintings were in the back of the truck and being moved from a gallery in Pioneer Square when the theft was reported Thursday morning after truck disappeared from a parking lot of a hotel near North 145th Street and Aurora Avenue North, police said.

Here’s a list and photos of the stolen artwork. The value of the artwork is estimated at $65,000.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Yamashita at 206-684-8945 or Sgt. Backstrom at 206-684-8948.
