Seattle police say a man brandished a knife at a supermarket employee while stealing several items early this morning.
The female employee was stocking shelves near the automotive section at the QFC store in the 9900 block of Holman Road Northwest just before 2 a.m. when she noticed a man loading several items into a hand basket, police said. After speaking with the man, the employee became suspicious and followed him toward the check-out stations.
Police said the man walked out the front door without paying for the items.
The employee confronted the man and asked if he would like her to cash out the items in his basket. He brandished a knife with a 6-inch blade and yelled at her to stay away, according to police.
The employee backed off and the man got into a maroon, older-model Toyota Camry and drove away.
Police said the man stole cans of transmission fluid, stain remover, motor oil and other miscellaneous automotive products.
