Three arrested after DUI crash in Rainier Valley last night

A 27-year-old man was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault DUI, last night after police say he drove his SUV into a telephone pole, injuring himself and two passengers.

The man driving the Chevrolet Suburban was heading north on Rainier Avenue South around 9 p.m. when it apparently swerved out of control and hit the pole at South Willow Street, according to Seattle police. The driver and a passenger suffered serious injuries, a third person suffered minor injuries. All three were taken to Harborview Medical Center, said police spokesman Mark Jamieson.

A fourth person in the car was not hurt, police said.

Police say the driver was intoxicated.
