Woman, apparent homicide victim, found in West Seattle

A woman was found dead in her West Seattle home early this afternoon in what police are investigating as a homicide.

At about 12:27 p.m., officers went to the 5900 block of Highpoint Drive SW to check on the homeowner. Inside they found a dead woman, in her 40s. No one else was in the house.

Police declined to say what prompted the welfare check, or to describe how the woman had been killed.

No arrests have yet been made.

The Seattle Police Department has asked that anyone with information about the case call its Homicide Tip Line at (206) 233-5000, saying anonymous tips are welcome.
