Woman killed on Highway 101 near Shelton

The Associated Press

SHELTON — The Washington State Patrol says a woman was struck and killed on Highway 101 near Shelton about 3 a.m. Monday when she walked into the path of a semi-truck.

Trooper Russ Winger says the woman had been reported for driving erratically by a driver who was following her. Winger says a trooper was on the way when the woman ran off the road, disabling her car.

Winger says the man who followed her tried to get her to stay at the car, but she wandered onto the highway into the path of the truck. The driver couldn’t stop. She was killed at the scene.

She’s believed to be a 19-year-old from the Olympia area.
