Duck hunter shot in Snohomish County

A man was shot in the leg Wednesday while duck hunting with his brother in a boat off  Warm Beach, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The two men reported being several hundred yards offshore when they heard a loud explosion around 5 p.m. A bullet went through the boat’s hull and a duck decoy before striking the 47-year-old man, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators believe it may have been from a high-powered rifle fired from shore, given the distance and direction it traveled. Investigators hope to learn more after the bullet is recovered and examined, according to Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.
