Granite Falls police have arrested a 17-year-old boy who has been allegedly making online threats against students and staff at Granite Falls High School since December 15.
Authorities say that the boy, who is a student at the school, made a series of violent threats against specific students and staff over Ask.FM, a social networking site. The site, which is based in Latvia, allows users to post comments anonymously, according to a statement released by sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shari Ireton.
Detectives were able to track the teen’s address to the online postings, Ireton wrote in the news release.
The teen was booked into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center for investigation of cyberstalking and felony harassment.
Information for high school students and their families will be posted on the school district web site. No additional arrests are expected at this time.
