Inmate dies this morning at Snohomish County Jail

A female inmate at the Snohomish County Jail died this morning, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 1 a.m., the 24-year-old inmate was found unresponsive in her cell in the jail’s medical unit. Medical personnel began CPR and called for additional medical aid, the sheriff’s office said.

Attempts to revive the inmate were unsuccessful and she died at the scene.

The woman, an Everett resident, had been booked into jail by Everett police on Tuesday for violating a no-contact order and obstruction, according to the sheriff’s office. Jail personnel verified that she had been screened medically when she was booked, as well routinely checked every half-hour while being housed in the medical unit, the sheriff’s office says.

The identity of the inmate, as well as cause and manner of death, will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The death is the ninth at the jail since 2010.
