Man accused of stealing from firetruck outside firefighter’s funeral

HOQUIAM (AP) — A man is accused of stealing a flashlight from a firetruck parked in Hoquiam for a firefighter’s funeral.

Witnesses pointed out the suspect Friday, and an officer stopped him and recovered the flashlight and also found methamphetamine.

KBKW reports the suspect was jailed on an outstanding warrant from the Department of Corrections and also for investigation of vehicle prowling.

The firetruck crew was attending services for Michael Webber, who died last month in a truck accident.
