Missing Marysville man’s body recovered from river

The body of a missing 71-year-old Marysville man was recovered yesterday from the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River near Oso.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says the man told his family Sunday he was going to check on fishing conditions in the river. He was reported missing when he failed to return for dinner.

Late Monday night, a sheriff’s deputy located the man’s vehicle along state Highway 530 near Oso, the sheriff’s office said. A search of the area by the sheriff’s helicopter and search-and-rescue crews was launched Tuesday morning and the body was spotted in the water around 11 a.m.

The sheriff’s Technical Water Rescue and Dive Team was sent in to recover the body.

The man’s name has not been released.
