Man fleeing casino killed on Highway 99 in Everett

The Associated Press

EVERETT — The Washington State Patrol says a man who was struck by a vehicle and killed on Highway 99 in Everett had been running away from a casino.

The Patrol says the 30-year-old Federal Way man, Dahai Guan, stopped in traffic Thursday night when he was fatally injured.

KOMO reports he was fleeing the Royal Casino, where employees suspected he was trying to leave with cards or chips belonging to the casino.

WSP Sgt. Chris Caiola said the 37-year-old driver who struck the man was not at fault. He was not impaired and told investigators he was unable to stop in time.
