One person suffered minor burns from a house fire at 849 Northeast 123rd St. in Pinehurst this afternoon, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
Firefighters responding to an automatic fire call around 5:40 p.m. found flames extending from the kitchen up the side of the two-story house to the roof and out the windows. The owner, who suffered minor burns to his hand and arm, said he was cooking when the fire started. It took 56 firefighters an hour to extinguish the flames, which caused an estimated $250,000 to the structure and contents.
Investigators determined the fire was caused by unattended food left on the stove, SFD said.
