A wounded man who walked into Harborview Medical Center last night has been linked to an earlier report of shots fired, Seattle police said this morning.
At about 8:15 p.m., police responded to several calls of “shots fired” near 12th Avenue and East Jefferson Street. Officers arrived but did not find evidence of a shooting, according to police.
About 15 minutes later, police learned that a 24-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to his arm and side had walked into the hospital’s emergency room and was taken into surgery. Police say the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Officers investigating the original gunshot call located shell casings in front of a business in the 400 block of 12th Avenue, police said. A witness later told police that the victim had been at the scene of the shooting.
