Seattle police arrest suspect in Central District shooting

Thursday morning, Seattle police arrested a suspect in a Central District shooting that had critically injured a man early the previous day.

The 36-year-old suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of felony assault, the police department said.

When police responded to the report of a gunshot in the 800 block of 16th Avenue at 2 a.m. Wednesday, they  and found a man lying in the street, police spokeswoman Renee Witt said. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

Witnesses told officers after the shooting they has seen a red Chevrolet Corvette speed away. Officers found a red Corvette parked two blocks from the scene, SPD said.
