Sex offender accused of trying to lure girls in Seattle

Seattle police arrested a registered sex offender after he allegedly tried to lure two 12-year-old girls into his van in the Central District Monday evening.

Officers responded to the area near 23rd Avenue and East Yesler Way at 5:25 p.m. after reports of a man enticing a girl into a light-colored minivan. Officers contacted the 72-year-old man, who was sitting in his van in the 2400 block of East Yesler Way, and a background check showed the man is a registered sex offender.

He was arrested and will be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of child luring.
