Sexual predator sting operation leads to arrest in Skagit County

Skagit Valley Herald

ANACORTES — A man was arrested by Anacortes Police and booked into Skagit County Jail late Tuesday night.

Police have requested charges from the Skagit County Prosecutor’s Office for communication with a minor for immoral purposes, possession of child pornography and attempted second-degree rape of a child, said officer Doug Liddle.

The arrest stemmed from an online sting operation started by Anacortes detectives in early November targeting sexual predators, Liddle said.

Th e operation is being carried out with the County Prosecutor’s Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

After Anacortes Police placed an advertisement on an online social networking service posing as a 13-year-old girl, they received more than 100 responses in 12 hours, they told the Skagit Valley Herald.

The ongoing operation has led to two previous arrests.
