ABERDEEN (AP) — A Washington state Corrections Department spokeswoman says all medium-security and minimum-security units at a state prison in Aberdeen are locked down after a series of multi-inmate fights.
Spokeswoman Norah West says one Stafford Creek Corrections Center inmate was injured Thursday afternoon and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. She says those injuries are not life-threatening.
No staff members were hurt.
West says the first fight occurred around 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the day room of a medium-custody unit. A short time later, three other multi-offender fights occurred – one in the same medium-security unit, one in another medium-security unit and one in a minimum-security unit. She didn’t have a total for the number of inmates involved.
Stafford Creek houses about 2,000 inmates in minimum, medium and maximum custody.
