Assailants accidentally call 911; cops catch them in the act

KENNEWICK — Four people were arrested Wednesday evening in Kennewick after one of them pocket dialed 911 while allegedly attempting to kidnap a man.

The 27-year-old male victim, whose name wasn’t released, was reportedly led into a garage on the 1400 block of Ninth Place by a woman, a release said.

Once inside, two men entered the garage and attacked the man, punching him repeatedly and tying him up with twine, said Kennewick police.

But the suspects didn’t realize one of them had accidentally called 911 on his cellphone until Kennewick police officers showed up. Authorities said they found methamphetamine, prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the house.

Three men and the woman, their ages ranging from 19 to 48, were arrested kidnapping, assault and drug charges and booked into the Benton County jail.

The victim was treated at Trios Health for a cut to his head.
