UPDATE 3:10 p.m. | King County Sheriff’s detectives are hoping that a faded
Target brand towel will help them find the person responsible for abandoning a newborn baby in a wooded area near North Bend on Wednesday.
Investigators have released little information about the infant, including whether the baby was stillborn or born alive.
Investigators released a photo of the geometric patterned towel on Thursday afternoon. The large towel was found with the baby.
ORIGINAL POST | The body of a newborn was found in a North Bend wooded area on Wednesday, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the 38000 block of Southeast North Bend Way around 2:15 p.m. after a man walking down the road spotted the newborn’s body. Deputies found the body, which appeared to have been full term and still had the umbilical cord attached. Investigators declined to reveal the baby’s gender.
“We do not have any tips yet,” said sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Cindi West.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating.
