Everett beaches reopen after sewage spill

EVERETT  — Two Everett beaches have reopened after a sewage spill on Saturday night, city officials said.

Beaches at Howarth Park and Pigeon Creek Park were reopened after samples indicated water quality was at normal background levels following the spill.

The spill occurred after brief power outage shut down a pump at an Everett sewer lift station for about seven minutes. An estimated 8,000 gallons of sewage was released into Port Gardner Bay.
