Man seriously hurt in scooter-car collision in Seattle

A man was seriously injured after his scooter collided with a small sedan at 12th Avenue South and Boren Avenue South this afternoon, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle-scooter collision around 1:30 p.m. after a Yamaha scooter traveling northbound on 12th Avenue South and a Honda Accord traveling southbound on Boren Avenue South collided in the intersection. The driver of the motor scooter was thrown to the pavement. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries, police said.

The Honda driver had no signs of impairment from alcohol or drugs, police said. The collision remains under investigation.
