Man seriously injured after duplex fire north of Bothell

A man was seriously injured after a duplex fire this evening in unincorporated Snohomish County, according to Snohomish County Fire District 1.

The fire in the duplex, located in the 19900 block of Filbert Road, was reported around 5:10 p.m after a neighbor saw smoke coming from the back of the unit. A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy arrived before firefighters and pulled the man from the smoke-filled unit. The man, who is in his 50s, was taken to Swedish Medical Center-Edmonds with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The fire was contained to a small area around the stove top, but the unit had significant smoke damage. The neighboring duplex unit was not damaged, firefighters said.
