A jail inmate who escaped from police in Bellevue on Jan. 31 is back in custody.
According to Seattle Times news partner KING 5, Windell Downs III was arrested earlier today following a car chase. Police say he was arrested in Renton. Details of the arrest were not immediately available.
Downs, 21, escaped from police outside of Bellevue District Court as he was being transported from the King County Jail. He was last seen running to a car that appeared to be a blue Ford Crown Victoria, police said.
He was wearing a red jumpsuit, waist chains and leg shackles when he escaped, according to Bellevue police.
His girlfriend, Tanjanique Hillis, was arrested by police on Feb. 19 for allegedly providing assistance to Downs. Hillis, 20, was released on Monday.
