Officer kills man armed with knife in Centralia

The Associated Press

CENTRALIA — A police officer has shot and killed a threatening man armed with a knife in Centralia.

Police say two officers confronted the man about 2:20 a.m. Thursday because it was suspicious for him to be behind a closed store in the middle of the night.

The Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1mcXa8r ) the man refused orders to drop the knife and also said he was armed with a gun. One of the officers shot the suspect.

The 48-year-old man’s name has not been released, but police said he carried out-of-state identification.

The Washington State Patrol is helping investigate the shooting.
