Pedestrian suffers head injury after being hit by SUV

A 26-year-old woman was hospitalized with a head injury after she was struck by a car in downtown Seattle last night.

The woman was crossing the street at the intersection of Denny Way and Dexter Avenue around 7:30 p.m. when she was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder. The SUV driver was evaluated by a drug recognition expert and he did not appear to be impaired, police spokeswoman Renee Witt wrote in a news release.

The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with what police are calling a potentially life-threatening injury.

The incident remains under investigation. No arrests were made.
