Seattle police searching for Belltown rape suspect

Seattle police are searching for a man who raped a woman in Belltown last month.

According to police: a woman was walking near the intersection of Second Avenue and Clay Street a little after 1 a.m. on Jan. 18 when she was attacked by a stranger. The woman told police that the man raped her.

The suspect is described as being Hispanic,  in his mid-20s to early 30s, approximately 5′ 8″ tall, with short hair and a stocky build.  The man was wearing a dark coat, sweatshirt and long baggy shorts. Police have video images, caught by a business security camera, that show the suspect prior to the attack, police said.

If anyone has any information about this rape or the suspect, please call the Seattle Police Department Sexual Assault Unit at 206-684-5575.
