Tacoma high-school teacher arrested for alleged sexual relations with student

A Tacoma high-school teacher was arrested Tuesday evening for allegedly having sexual relations with a student, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The 33-year-old male teacher at Curtis High School was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of five counts of first-degree misconduct with a minor, Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Detectives are investigating when the relationship between the 17-year-old female student and the teacher may have started, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The teacher was put on paid administrative leave on Jan. 17 after another student and her mother reported concerns to the school, who told a sheriff’s deputy.
