PORTLAND — Authorities say a Clackamas County employee was fatally shot on the job, and the gunman remains on the loose.
Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Wurpes says the victim was a weighmaster, a worker who ensures commercial truck drivers adhere to weight limits on roads.
The sheriff’s office says the suspected gunman — 41-year-old Dirck White of Edgewood, Wash. — is believed to be driving a silver Mercedes-Benz with the Washington license plate ANB7070.
An outstanding warrant for his arrest on a weapons violation was issued in Pierce County, Wash.
The victim’s name has not been released because some relatives haven’t been notified.
The shooting occurred Thursday morning roughly 25 miles southeast of Portland.
