Woman struck, killed while crossing Bellevue street

Update 4:30 p.m.: Bellevue police say the Carnation truck driver who struck and killed a pedestrian this afternoon was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The driver, who is described only as a man in his mid-50s, was turning west from 124th Avenue Northeast onto Northeast 12th Street when he struck the woman. She has not been identified by police.

The incident remains under investigation.

Update at 3:41 p.m.:| Northeast 12th Street and 124th Avenue Northeast has been reopened following the investigation, Bellevue police say.

Original post:| Bellevue police say a woman was killed when she was hit by a large truck while crossing Northeast 12th Street this afternoon.

Police say the woman was struck at about 12:15 p.m. It’s unclear whether she was in the crosswalk at the intersection of 124th Avenue Northeast, said Bellevue police spokeswoman Carla Iafrate.

The intersection will be closed for several hours while police investigate.
