A team of students from Franklin High School won the King County 25th Annual YMCA High School Mock Trial Competition Monday night.
The tournament has stretched over the past two weeks, beginning with 19 teams from King County high schools, and culminating in the championship round trial between Franklin High School and Seattle Preparatory School. Each team was required to handle both the prosecution and defense sides in a fictitious criminal case based loosely on Charles Dickens’ “Mystery of Edwin Drood.”
In the championship trial, Elizabeth Huse of Franklin High School was named as the Outstanding Attorney and Olivia Morrow of Seattle Prep was named Outstanding Witness.
Both teams, as well as teams from University Preparatory Academy and the International Community School will advance to the state tournament in Olympia later this month.
