Kirkland man charged in fatal Kenmore hit-and-run

The man arrested in Kenmore Friday after a woman who was crossing the street was fatally hit by a truck has been charged with felony hit-and-run, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Kwesi Gyesi, 53, of Kirkland, allegedly drove the southbound truck that struck Sarah Paulson, 20, as she was crossing Juanita Drive Northeast near the intersection with Northeast 160th Street shortly after 7 a.m., the King County Sheriff’s Office said. Paulson died at Harborview Medical Center later that morning.

Witnesses said Gyesi paused briefly and then drove away. He later called police to say he thought he had hit something, the sheriff’s office said.

Gyesi was released from jail Tuesday after posting $25,000 bail.
