Man on capsized boat rescued near Vashon Island

The Coast Guard rescued a man after his 14-foot sailing skiff capsized near Vashon Island Saturday morning.

The man, reportedly wearing a wet suit and a lifejacket, was taken to Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal where he was met by medics. There were no reports of injuries.

“His preparedness may have been the difference between a successful rescue and an unsuccessful rescue,” said a Coast Guard spokesman.

A King County Sheriff Marine Unit crew towed the skiff to the Vashon Island Ferry Terminal, where the owner plans to recover the vessel.

Ferries were slightly delayed.
