The King County Sheriff’s Office is trying to locate a purse that was stolen from a woman who was attacked and sexually assaulted near White Center on March 7.

The attack happened just after midnight as the victim was walking on the south side of Roxbury Street near 24th Avenue. She was approached by a man, who asked her for a cigarette, the sheriff’s office said.

After the victim gave the man a cigarette he suddenly dragged her to a nearby lot, where he punched her repeatedly and then sexually assaulted her, the sheriff’s office said.

The man fled after the attack, taking the victim’s purse. The sheriff’s office says the purse may have been discarded nearby or possibly given to a friend or associate.

Anyone with information on the attack or the missing purse is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 206-296-3311. Callers can remain anonymous, and be eligible for a $1,000 reward, by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
