Monday Memo: Chilling detail in mudslide coverage … Check back for updates … Weather may aid search

The voices: One of the most chilling pieces of information coming from the site of the mudslide is that rescuers heard voices early on in the search, but couldn’t reach the source of those voices. Eventually, the voices went silent.

The main mudslide story: Eight confirmed dead; many still missing. Come back to our homepage throughout the day for developments in the search.

Weather: It’s expected to be sunny today, which could help in the search through the mudslide debris.

The Zags: Boy, did they get pounded by Arizona in the NCAA playoffs.

Citizen patrols: A couple of assaults on Capitol Hill have spurred a return of a neighborhood patrol.
