The King County Sheriff’s Office has released a sketch of a man who assaulted and raped a woman in White Center earlier this month.

A woman was walking eastbound on the south side of Roxbury Street near 24th Avenue shortly after midnight on March 7 when she was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette, according to the sheriff’s office. After she gave the man a cigarette, he dragged her to a nearby lot and punched and sexually assaulted her.

He fled and took her purse with him. The purse was never located and may have been discarded nearby or given to someone who knows the suspect.

The man was described as a black male in his early 20s, about 5-foot-9, with a medium build. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and jeans. He may have injures to his hands because of the violent assault.

Anyone with information about the man or the missing purse is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 206-296-3311. Callers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a $1,000 reward by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
