Report of strong odor forces Franklin High School evacuation

Update at 4:56 p.m.:| The SFD Haz Mat team did not detect any hazardous substance at Franklin High School. People are being allowed back in the building.

Update at 4:17 p.m.:| Office staff smelled something strong and called the Seattle Fire Department at 3:11 p.m., according to district spokeswoman Teresa Wippel.

Classes had already been let out, but some students were still in the building rehearsing a play, she said. The building was evacuated.

Seattle Fire says three people were evaluated for nausea and scratchy throats.

Original post:| Franklin High School in South Seattle is being evacuated after occupants reported a strong odor that was making them sick, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

The hazardous-materials team is at the scene, SFD said.

The Fire Department has tweeted that two people are being evaluated at the scene. The hazmat team has entered the building to take air samples.
