SeaTac man arrested in fatal White Center shooting

Detectives arrested an 18-year-old SeaTac man this afternoon in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in White Center Wednesday, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Ruben Castillo Jr., of Burien, died of gunshot wounds to the torso, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. He and three others were getting gas at a station near Southwest Roxbury Street and 15th Avenue Southwest around 10 p.m. Wednesday when they started arguing with a group at a nearby bus stop. As Castillo and his companions drove by the group, one of the men shot at the car and hit Castillo, who was sitting in the rear passenger seat.

The driver of the car drove to the North Highline Fire Station to seek aid, and Castillo was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are not seeking any other witnesses, but encourage any additional witnesses of the shooting to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311.
