Sheriff’s detectives arrest 2 teens in light-rail assault

Detectives have arrested two of five teens suspected of assaulting a man on a Sound Transit light-rail train last week, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

A man was repeatedly punched and kicked by five people March 20 on a train headed to Seattle from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after he tried to intervene when the group harassed another passenger. The man’s injuries included a broken jaw.

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage of the assault and arrested two boys, 15 and 16. They were booked into the Youth Services Center for investigation of felony assault.

The other three in the group are still being sought, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office contracts with Sound Transit for police services.
