Sunday Memo: New neighbors … Will Seattle become Disneyland? … Sun Tuesday?

First off, did you remember to move your clocks ahead one hour? You know, Daylight Saving Time …

And look at this, you may have a new neighbor! Big companies that get their money from Wall Street have purchased thousands of single-family homes — including homes in Seattle –  and are offering them as rentals. They’re elbowing out homeowners at a time when the housing market is tight. Absentee landlord comes to mind, no?

Is Seattle becoming Disneyland? Well, not really, says columnist Danny Westneat, but he’s worried that ideas popping up for a revamped Seattle might turn the gritty city into something vastly different. For example, sketches of some proposals, he says,  look like a suburban shopping mall. Proposals include a gondola ride downtownmist gardens, hot tubs, glass bridges on the waterfront and an expansion of Pike Place Market.  Do any of these ideas strike your fancy? Vote in our poll.

Weather: Showers today and tomorrow, but hey, look, MOSTLY SUNNY on Tuesday. National Weather Service forecast
