Sunday Memo: Thunder & lightning … Kurt Cobain … Sounders lose

Thunder and lightning: A lightning strike during yesterday’s thunderstorm punched a hole in the chapel at Bethany Community Church in the Green Lake neighborhood. Three people were inside but none were injured.  The strike didn’t cause a fire, thank goodness.

Speaking of weather, all that rain yesterday helped make March the wettest one on record.

The search for victims of the massive Snohomish County mudslide continues today in conditions made that much worse by all that rain. Also, the list of missing dropped dramatically yesterday from 90 to 30.

Kurt Cobain and Nirvana: April 5 is the 20th anniversary of Cobain’s death and five days after that, Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. See what memories cultural figures, musicians and Seattle locals have of the music legend.

The Sounders FC lost 2-1 yesterday at Century Link field to the Columbus Crew on a late goal by Crew forward Justin Meram. Say what you will, but it was a fine goal. See it here on the MSL Soccer web site.
