A portion of the West Valley Highway in Auburn that closed because of a mudslide has reopened, city officials said.
A mudslide this morning closed the highway from 15th Street Northwest to 37th Street Northwest, according to the city of Auburn. Crews have cleared the roadway and placed jersey barriers in front of the slide area as a precautionary measure.
A mudslide earlier this morning destroyed an abandoned house in Pacific in the 36100 block of West Valley Highway.
More slides are possible across Western Washington as cumulative rainfall over the past week has put pressure on soil instability, according to the National Weather Service.
