A 24-year-old woman has been hospitalized after she shot herself in the parking lot of a South Everett Home Depot, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the store in the 11900 block of Highway 99 after receiving reports that a suspicious woman was walking around the parking lot with a semi-automatic handgun, asking strangers to help her un-jam the firearm. A deputy found the woman sitting in a car parked in a loading zone directly in front of the store, the Sheriff’s Office said.
When the woman saw the deputy, she put the handgun next to her head and pulled the trigger, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office said deputies did not fire their weapons during the encounter.
The Everett woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where her condition was not immediately known.
