Bicyclist hospitalized after riding into Seattle police van

A bicyclist has been hospitalized after she rode into the back of a parked Seattle police van on Capitol Hill, police said.

The 27-year old woman was riding her bike east on East Pine Street toward 12th Avenue when she struck the rear of the prisoner transport van parked outside the departrment’s East Precinct around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. The woman was not wearing a helmet.

Seattle Fire Department medics took the woman to Harborview Medical Center with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries. She is in stable condition, police said.

Police haven’t determined what caused the woman to ride into the van.
