A group of citizens chased and tackled a purse thief, recovering the woman’s purse and other items, Seattle police said in a Web posting Sunday.
Officers responded about 5:50 p.m. Saturday to Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Myrtle Street to a report of a strong-arm robbery.
A preliminary investigation indicated the woman was walking when a teenage boy grabbed her purse and fled, police said.
Citizens pursued the teen on foot and tackled him, police said. The citizens were able to recover the victim’s items but let the suspect go before officers arrived. The teen ran off.
Officers contacted the victim, but she declined to pursue the matter since she got her purse and items back.
