Feed the raccoons in Bremerton and you could be fined

The Associated Press

BREMERTON — People in Bremerton who put out food for raccoons could be fined under an ordinance the City Council passed to control the scavengers.

The council voted Wednesday to increase fines for feeding the critters and to contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to trap and kill problem animals.

The Kitsap Sun reports council members hope to solve the problem without fines or euthanasia by educating residents not to feed raccoons or to leave pet food outside.
