Gonzaga University sues Spokane ‘Date Grape’ bar

SPOKANE (AP) — Gonzaga University is suing the owner of a downtown Spokane bar that drew negative attention when it advertised a drink called “Date Grape Koolaid.”

In the suit filed Tuesday against Pendleton Enterprises, the university wants the bar to stop using any Gonzaga logos or trademarks. According to The Sp0kesman Review,  the suit claims that Pendleton Enterprises has been using Gonzaga University’s trademarks — including the university’s mascot Spike the Bulldog— to promote its businesses.

KHQ reports Gonzaga has no connection to the bar and doesn’t want any association with the negative publicity about the drink.
