Man arrested after standoff in South Seattle

UPDATE 7:30 a.m.:  Officers have taken the suspect into custody, according to Seattle Police.

Previous Post:  A man believed to be armed with a machete is refusing to surrender to police after threatening a roommate and a friend at his house early this morning, Seattle police have reported on their website and on Twitter.

According to a post from the SPD: At approximately 2:18 a.m. officers responded to 911 calls of a disturbance at a residence in the 1700 block of South Pearl Street. Two adult males made contact with officers outside the residence and  reported that the 23-year-old male suspect, who was still inside, had threatened them while holding a machete. The two victims, a roommate of the suspect’s and a visiting friend, were not injured. The only person believed to be inside the residence is the suspect.

Patrol officers made numerous attempts to get the suspect to come outside, according to the post. Officers called the suspect on his cell phone and spoke to him over their patrol car’s public address system however, the suspect has refused to come outside and surrender.

Negotiators and SWAT officers have responded to the scene, the post says.
