Man stabbed to death in Everett

A 40-year-old man with an extensive criminal history has been booked into the Snohomish County Jail on investigation of first-degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing in Everett early this morning.

Everett police said the suspect and his girlfriend were arguing at the apartment they share with the woman’s daughter and her boyfriend when the daughter’s boyfriend attempted to intervene and was stabbed.

When police arrived at the residence in the 8200 block of Fifth Avenue West around 1:45 a.m.the suspect had fled and the older woman was attempting to provide medical aid to the 21 or 22-year-old victim, police said. Nevertheless, he died, police said.

A K-9 unit was able to track the suspect and he was taken into custody, according to Everett Police Department spokesman Sgt. Ryan Dalberg.

The suspect has not yet been charged in connection with the stabbing, but court records show he has a lengthy criminal history that includes more than 50 warrants and convictions for rape, failing to register as a sex offender, drug offenses and numerous protection order violations.
