Mudslide death toll hits 35; 11 people still missing

UPDATE, 5:16 p.m. | The latest information from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office has 11 people missing. Ruthven, Wyatt, 4 years old,  of Steelhead Dr., Arlington, is now also on the list.

ORIGINAL POST |The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office this afternoon increased its count of the dead from the Oso mudslide to 35. Ten people remain missing.

Officials say they have identified 31 of those victims, including 2-year-old Brooke Spillers. The child is the last missing member of the Spillers family to be identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The little girl; her father, Billy L. Spillers, 30, a chief petty officer in the Navy stationed at Naval Station Everett; her sister, Kaylee Spillers, 5; and her 13-year-old stepbrother, Jovon Mangual, were watching television at home when the slide struck, authorities said. Her mother, Joielle Spillers, wasn’t home and is safe. Her brother, Jacob, 4, was rescued from the mud.

This afternoon, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said that 11 people remain missing, including:

Bonnie Gullikson, 91, Arlington
Mark Gustafson, 54, Arlington
Steve Hadaway, 53. Arlington
Denver Harris, 14, Arlington
Steve Harris, 52, Arlington
Theresa Harris, 53, Arlington
Larry Miller, 58, Arlington
Sandra Miller, 64, Arlington
Kris Regelbrugge, 44, Arlington
Wyatt Ruthven, 4, Arlington
